Position Title: Museum Intern
Reports To: Director of Guest Experience or as Assigned Depending on Department
Position Status: Internship
The Imagine Museum offers a variety of internships on a flexible and ongoing basis. Internships offer the opportunity to gain valuable, practical experience while receiving guidance and mentoring from museum professionals.
Internships require a specific number of hours per week during which interns complete the objectives of a specific target project as well as daily departmental assignments. Interns have the opportunity to participate in departmental meetings, special events, and various educational programs when appropriate.
PLEASE NOTE: We are not currently offering any paid internship positions. Because of the high volume of applications received it is important to follow the application directions explicitly. Applications that do not meet the criteria described below will not be responded to.

Imagine Museum is a non-profit located in St. Petersburg, Florida that opened in January 2018.
Imagine Museum’s mission is to elevate contemporary American studio glass through research, education, and exhibitions. Featuring preeminent works from the American Studio Glass Movement and an extraordinary selection of contemporary glass art sculptures from around the world. Imagine Museum has over 400 significant pieces of glass works on display from their 1600-piece collection. The artwork is dramatically displayed throughout the 34,000 sq. ft. facility.
The ideal intern candidate will have the drive and desire to devote energy and enthusiasm towards the success of Imagine Museum. We are, above all, looking for interns who have a great attitude, are good team players and have the desire to succeed. The Imagine Museum Internship position is designed for the emerging professional who is sales and goal driven, has a desire and ability to learn quickly and the talent of effectively addressing an audience with clarity and confidence.
o Promote a positive visitor experience while enforcing Museum protocols, ensuring that the visitors’ first and last impression of their experience at the Museum is a positive one.
o Provide excellent customer service and actively promote Imagine Museum.
o Ensure the safety of visitors, staff and art works.
o Have a good working knowledge of the Imagine Museum facilities, exhibitions, activities, and assist with daily set up for public spaces and special events; and maintains supplies of visitor materials.
o An Imagine Museum intern will cross-trained in customer service, facilitating tours, helping with events and performing operational processes.
o Ensure all visitors receive an initial orientation to the Museum. Conduct orientations using narrative, inquiry, discussion, discovery and other interactive techniques.
o Communicate with a variety of visitors with diverse interests and abilities in a manner that enhances their general understanding of art and the Museum, including facilitating museum tours for large and small groups of all ages.
o Have the ability to work as part of a team and take initiative independent of direct supervision.
o Know and enforce Museum policies by educating patrons on museum guidelines and addressing necessary situations in an appropriate manner.
Recommended Qualifications:
o High school Required
o AA or BA preferred or in progress
o 1 year of customer service/sale experience is recommended but not required.
o Experience in facilitating tours will be positively considered
o Dependability is a must
o Evenings, Holidays, and Weekend availability will be required
Physical Requirements:
o Position requires prolonged periods of standing/walking
o May involve reaching, crouching, kneeling and stooping
o Frequent use of computers and other technology, necessary to perform intern functions, including handheld equipment, and ability to assist with Imagine Museum events.
o Frequently lift/move up to 25lbs
Preferred
o Bilingual skills
o CPR Certified

Work Location: One location with possible off-site events as needed
Pay: Un-paid Internship with possibility to transition to paid staff following successful internship. However, this is not guaranteed as paid staff position availability is limited.
Membership: Imagine Museum Interns will receive a Dual Museum Membership good for 1 year.
